Bio
The Flying Graysons were a trapeze act in the famous, Haley Circus. There were three members: John Grayson, Mary Grayson, and Richard "Dick" Grayson. Unknown to the trio, a fateful occurance was on the looming horizon. A man named Boss Zucco ran what was called the protection racket. If owners of stores, gas stations, anything that the mob boss targeted refused to pay up...then "accidents" were inevitable. The owner of Haley Circus refused to do the buissness with the gangsters. A mistake he would come to regret. The next night, which fate chose to be the exact same night Bruce Wayne decided to enjoy the circus, acid was poured onto the Flying Grayson's trapeze wire. As John and Mary attempted their greatest stunt, the tripple spin of death....the wires gave away...and they fell to their doom...

Bruce Wayne witnessed the death of young Dick's parents. After the terrible event...Dick walked away...lost in his pain and fear. He was only 8 years old, and had never even considered the possibility something so horrid could occur. He overheard Boss Zucco's men talking to the owner of the circus. Dick almost went to the police with his newly aquired information...that this was indeed not an accident. Alas, he was stopped by the Dark Knight. Batman told Dick if he made this news public, he would be dead within the hour. Boss Zucco didn't let disrespect go unpunished. Dick accompanied Batman in the batmobile, where Batman was trying to decide where he was going to take the boy. But listening to Dick's words...and then the memories of his own parents murder rushed to his mind. A very rare occurance happened...and the Dark Knight had pitty on the boy. Back in the batcave, under the light of a single candle...Batman asked the boy if he would swear to solomly and truthfully uphold justice, and that he would never swerve from the path of true rightousness. Dick did not hesitate, call it foolishness, call it naiveness of a child....I like to think of it....as honor. A craving to insure that what happened to him, would never happen to another soul. He took this vow...and then it began...

Dick pushed himself as hard as his young body would allow him...and then...he pushed himself further. Even at a young age, Dick tended to fight his own body. Push it beyond what it was willing to go. It was the only way someone so young could become so experianced at what he did. And now he was taking that method and twisting it into something even more productive. He pushed himself in hopes to reach his goal. He wanted to become as great as Batman someday. And he would not give up until he met that goal. But under that long term goal...were many short term goals....number one on his list....was vengeance. But that changed after Bruce taught him the blurred line between justice and vengeance, how that blurred line could seperate the best from the worst. To not seek vengeance...but to seek justice. And that's just what Dick did.

After several intense months of training. It was finally time for Dick to make his own suit. Batman would not do it for him. Dick's suit had to be a reflection of his mind, of his thoughts. Of him. Dick remembered one day when he completed a very complicated swing, releasing his father's hands, soaring through the air grabbing his mother's. Afterwards, his father put his hand on his son's shoulder and told him he soared like a Robin.....and so it was. Dick put his suit together...becoming Robin, the Boy Wonder.

Robin and Batman were partners for many, years...but over time, their relationship became strained. Dick constantly pushed himself to become as good as Batman, because it was in his nature to try to be all he can be. And he believed if anyone could reach a certain point, he could too. But he never had as much skill as the Dark Knight. Not only that, but Bruce's "lone wolf" nature made him feel almost...dejected. He felt as if he were never an equal to Batman...as if he were doomed to live out his days being nothing more than "The Shadow of the Bat."

Then it snapped. He ended up leaving the legacy of the Bat. Throwing his mask to his mentor's feet. And when Batman tried to stop him, Dick met him fist to face, turned, and left. He was gone for many, years. It seemed as if Dick was never coming back...and the question remained....would he?

After years of absense, at the dawn of the third Robin, Dick reemerged into the world of Bruce Wayne. There was something different about him but no one could place it. When he returned....things...changed. Tim had an older brother figure. Bruce and Alfred had an old friend....and Barbara...Barbara had a lover. Although, he would never admit it, Dick was an important piece to all of their lives. But when he returned...he returned with a new alter ego. Dick had become....Nightwing, Boy Wonder No More. In Bruce's private thoughts, he felt...the transistion from Robin to Nightwing was...difficult for them both. But it was a day he had long prepared for...simply because he knew....Dick was born to be in the center ring. And Bruce knew he couldn't do that...without becoming his own hero.

Now Dick had finally let himself out. He was Nightwing. For the first time in his life....he felt....free. He had Barbara at his side, he didn't feel as if he were being restrained...and he could just live his life. He had completed the journey from The Bird With A Broken Wing...to Boy Wonder No More....he had transformed into his final form. He was....complete. And from then on, Dick would live every day of his life knowing...if you pushed yourself hard enough. If you believed that you could do what you had to..and wanted to do. Then you would do it. And he knows that...you can't always do it alone. Sometimes you've gotta have the right person to back you up. And Dick had that person in Barbara. Dick had someone who would always stand by his side, as he would always stand by hers. And every night, he would stand atop a gargoyle on a cemetary building..overlooking his parents gravesite. And then he would jump from that building, and soar of into the night...soaring like a Robin....soaring through the shadows....one with the shadows...Nightwing...
